About Us
“Plow to Plate”, presented by the Safe Food Committee of the Park Slope Food Coop, is a film series focused on food. Its goal is to educate the community about food-related topics and issues, such as how food is sustainably cultivated, harvested, distributed, as well as prepared and served. All screenings are FREE and open to the public.
Jay Tran – Founder Emeritus
Curator for both Brooklyn Food Conferences. Musician. Composer of soundtracks for two award winning documentaries The Visitors & Tenth Planet. Composer, producer, assistant editor for film and cable television. Songwriting includes a top 40 hit recorded by Felix Cavaliere for Epic records. Performs as a soloist and with his band as a singer, guitarist and keyboard player.
Sean Kaminsky – Curator & Safe Food Committee Squad Leader
Sean Kaminsky is an award-winning filmmaker whose work has tackled a broad range of topics – from social to political. Films he has directed and/or produced have been broadcast on networks ranging from PBS to HBO to Sundance Channel. His current directing project is Open Sesame – The Story of Seeds, a feature-length documentary that reveals the serious challenges that face one of our most overlooked natural resources: Seeds. Kurt Flamer-Caldera – Host
Kurt Flamer-Caldera, Plow to Plate’s Screening Host, is a branding and communications consultant who provides strategic and creative direction to clients that range from Fortune 500 firms to start ups, particularly in the high tech sector. He is also active on the Non GMO Labeling Committee at the Coop and is introducing his two sons to the ways of e-commerce by launching a fun line of boxer shorts on www.cyafly.com
Margaret Maugenest – Emeritus
Margaret is a painter who likes to work with silk and glass. She helps facilitate and coordinate the flow of tasks involved in Plow to Plate.
Adam Rabiner – Writing & Publicity
Adam Rabiner lives in Ditmas Park with his wife Dina and two children, Elan and Ana. He writes a regular column for the Park Slope Food Coop’s Linewaiters’ Gazette newspaper and is also an occasional restaurant and food critic for BKLYNER.com.
Denise and William Touchet – Communications Coordinator & Web Master
The Touchet's live in Gowanus and manage the Plow to Plate website, create the posters & web graphics and sends out notifications about upcoming film events to the Plow to Plate mailing list.
